When pins are in place, remove the tape and check the quilt back to make sure things are tight and flat. If there are puckers or excess fabric, now is the time to fix the problems. WebbTo pin baste, start in the middle of the quilt. Use one safety pin to join the three layers in approximately the center of the quilt. Next, divide the quilt into four quadrants by pinning the safety pins out to the edges from the center pin, and then do the same to the top and bottom starting at the center pin.

Honestly, the extra step may have taken 10-15 minutes extra. Agree! I do the same, except just stick with a straight stitch.

Webb22 maj 2024 · Choose a spot at the bottom of your quilt. Starting with one end of your binding, line your binding’s raw edge up with the quilt’s raw edge. Don’t start sewing right at the edge of your binding, though. Start about 7” from the end of your binding. Those 7” will get sewn at the end. WebbLay the quilt top on the batting with the right side of the quilt top facing up and making sure to have 2 inches of batting showing all the way around the quilt top. Smooth out the quilt removing any wrinkles, bumps etc so that it lies nice and flat on top of the other two layers.
