IME, the little fork baffle that mounts between the forks does more to keep the wind down to the face and head. They do make it a little warmer in the winter though. Air begins to "tumble" as it flows up and over the leading edge, sometimes causing buffeting. The 9" is best for my heigth and I just put the 10" on for my summer trip to the East Coast for a little less wind for the long stretches. I have a HD Street Bob and can only ride it 300 miles a day or so because of the wind fatigue(I don't wear a helmet).
